How to read life insurance policy…
A policy statement helps you check whether cover is active, premiums are allocated and any cash or surrender values match the contract at that date.
What to check
Review the policy number, owner, insured life, beneficiaries, sum assured, premium status, units or bonuses where applicable, loans and surrender value.
What could change the answer
Cash value, fund value, maturity value and surrender value are not interchangeable. A projected value may not be guaranteed.
A practical next step
Compare the statement with the policy schedule, highlight any mismatch and ask customer service for a written explanation.
